Mini-Concert Bios
Sergeant Creek Stringband
Tom Weisbecker Tom plays guitar and sings in the band, he has been
playing music with Bill Peterson since 2003 in the Fiddler Nelson Band and now Sergeant Creek Stringband. Tom is past president of
the South Dakota Friends of Traditional Music. He also performs with the Crabgrass Crew and plays banjo, harmonica and is now working
on the fiddle.
Josh Scott Josh grew listening to music in the church and started playing guitar and piano at a young age. He
has been playing the fiddle over 10 years now and began as an apprentice with Bill Peterson through a grant with the South Dakota
Arts Council’s master/apprentice folk arts program. Josh is also a wonderful singer.
Bill Peterson Bill has been playing fiddle
for around 40 years and has been learning the “Missouri Valley” style of fiddling from Dwight Lamb of Onawa, Iowa for the last 16
years. Bill received an “Artist Fellowship” grant from the South Dakota Arts Council several years ago and has traveled the country
and Europe teaching and playing the fiddle.
Tom Carlson Tom plays the Nykelharpa which is a traditional Swedish instrument and
has been playing old time and Scandinavian fiddle tunes for over 40 years. He studied Appalachian fiddling with Kyle Creed and Albert
Hash and currently resides near Spink on Cedar Ridge Farm.
